Individual Consultation
One hour. Just you and me. A soundboard when you need it most.
Sometimes you don't need a whole engagement. You need an hour with someone who understands family business from the inside — to think out loud, pressure-test a decision, or figure out how to start a conversation you've been dreading.
The Individual Consultation is exactly that: a single, focused working session, just you and me. No group to assemble, no months-long commitment. A professional sounding board for the thing that's on your mind right now.
Is this you?
A consultation is the right door if any of these fit.
- You're curious about working with me and want to test the waters before bringing in your family.
- You've got one specific thing to workshop — a conversation to plan, a decision to weigh, a dynamic to make sense of.
- You want perspective on your own role in the system, without anyone else in the room yet.
- You're not ready for an Intensive, or you're not sure what you need — and an hour would help you find out.
What it is
A working session. Not a diagnosis, not a commitment.
A one-hour, one-on-one session — virtual or in person. You bring the thing; I help you see it more clearly. That might mean mapping the dynamic, finding the understandable part in someone you're stuck with, planning how to open a hard conversation, or just naming what's actually going on so you can decide what to do about it.
This is a sounding board, not a diagnosis and not a full engagement. If what surfaces turns out to be bigger — and sometimes it does — I'll tell you honestly, and we'll talk about whether an Intensive or a referral is the right next step.
A note on what a single hour can and can't do. A consultation is built for individuals thinking something through — not for working a live conflict between multiple family members. The moment the work involves the family system itself, that's an Intensive, where I can interview everyone and see the whole picture. I'll always point you to the right format.
(Multiple sessions are fine too, but once family is added, the type of engagement changes. Individual consultations are charged on an hourly basis.)
How it works
Three steps, start to finish.
- Book your session. Choose a time and pre-pay at booking. The consultation agreement is signed before the session is confirmed — simple and contained, sized for a one-off conversation.
- Tell me what's on your mind. A short prompt at booking helps me come ready. Occasionally I'll send a question or two beforehand so we don't spend the hour warming up.
- We work the hour. Focused, candid, useful. You'll leave with a clearer head and usually a concrete next move or two.
Investment
Straightforward, pay at booking.
| Session | Rate |
|---|---|
| Virtual or office (one hour) | $350 |
| Onsite (one hour) | $388 + travel where needed |
Payment is due at booking. Sessions that run long are billed to the nearest quarter hour. Late cancellations (within 24 hours) are billed in full unless there's an emergency.
Good to know
A few things worth understanding before you book.
Is this therapy?
No. This is a professional consultation about your family business, not clinical care.
Is it confidential?
I'm careful and discreet, but our work carries no therapist-client privilege and no HIPAA protection — confidentiality is contractual. For a solo consultation, what you share stays between us; it reaches anyone else only if you later ask me to discuss a specific topic with them.
Can a consultation lead to more?
It can, but doesn't have to. If you decide you want the full picture, the Intensive is the natural next step — and it's the front door to any longer engagement. A consultation is a low-stakes way to find out if we're a fit before you bring the family in. I'll also make referrals and recommendations if we're not the right fit. I don't try to upsell people, and I'll be respectful of that in our consultations.
Book an hour.
Pick a time, tell me what you want to work on, and let's think it through together. If it turns out you need more than an hour, you'll leave knowing exactly what — and what to do next.
Book Your HourAlready know it's bigger than an hour? If the work involves your family system — multiple people, a live dynamic — The Intensive is the right format. Longer, multi-month work runs through Discovery & Ongoing Engagement, which normally begins with an Intensive.
